Jacalyn "Jackie" King Obituary

Jacalyn “Jackie” (Purdy) King, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Rest, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday Nov. 30, 2016 with loved ones at her side at Hartford Hospital. Jacalyn was born on April 24, 1947 in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late Melvin “Jack” and Stefania “Stella” Purdy. She was a life-long resident of Enfield, a graduate of Enfield H.S. Class of 1965 and continued her education at CCSU where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1969. Jacalyn was employed with MARCH, Inc. of Manchester, CT for the past 20 years. In her leisure-time she enjoyed reading, traveling, time spent at Cape Cod and with her family, especially her adored and cherished grandson, DJ. Jacalyn is survived by her two loving daughters and sons-in- law; Jennifer & Dominic Viglione and Kelly & Jason Cormier. She is also survived by her two sisters and brothers-in- law; Marilyn & Tom Martin and Susan & Don Peterson, along with her nieces, nephews and families; Sheila Martin & Drew Orsini, Tom, Beth, Nic & Colby Martin, Kerry, Steve & Stephanie Schaefer, and Don, Michelle, James & Jonathan Peterson, and many extended family members and dear friends. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Saturday Dec. 3, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm with Fr. Timothy Meehan officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels in Enfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200 Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 or Mary’s Place 6 Poquonock Ave, Windsor, CT 06095.
