James Taksar Obituary

James R. Taksar “Jim” of Margate, FL and Snellville, GA passed away peacefully on February 27, 2014 at the Northwest Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale after a brief illness. He was born in Hartford, CT on April 17, 1933, son of the late James and Genevieve (Duffany) Taksar and lived most of his life in Enfield. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fourteen years Gertrude ('Trudy') Rucci and his children, Stephen Taksar and Laure Morris of Meredith, NH, Jane (Taksar) and Robin LaBorde of Granby, MA, William and Theresa Taksar of North Attleboro, MA and Lisa (Taksar) and Thomas Orifice of Enfield, CT and special grandchildren Robert LaBorde, Dawn (LaBorde) and Timothy Stanford, Melissa and Michael Taksar, Ashley, Chelsea and Mykela Orifice and Samuel and Eli Taksar and precious great grandson Padraig (“Rig”) Stanford. He also leaves a sister-in-law Helen Taksar of Berlin, CT, a niece Mary-Loretta Taksar of Alexandria, VA, a stepson Jim Rucci and wife Nancy and family of Lilburn, GA and stepson Peter Rucci and wife Maureen of Baton Rouge, LA. Jim was predeceased in 1988 by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 35 years Barbara (Donahue) Taksar and later by his brother Robert J. Taksar and nephew Robert J. Taksar, Jr. (“Bobby”). He was a graduate of Hartford Public High School (Class of 1952), attended Hillyer College and served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army’s 535 Infantry from April 1953 to February 1955. He retired from Wiremold in West Hartford after a life-long career there as a tool designer. Jim especially loved golf, bowling and oil painting and was an avid New York Yankees fan. A Mass in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Enfield, CT followed by burial with military honors at Enfield Street Cemetery in Enfield.
