John "Jack" Coffey

John “Jack” M. Coffey, 74, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Sunday (July 15, 2012) at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford. John was predeceased by his beloved wife Sally Ann (Sardo) Coffey in 2001. He was born on Dec. 27, 1937 in Winsted, CT the son of the late Maurice and Gladys (O’Neil) Coffey and had resided in Enfield for the past 45 years and in Hartford before that. John served his country from 1956 to 1960 with the U.S. Navy on the USS Wasp. Prior to his retirement in 1989 he was employed for many years with Met Life Insurance Co. along with various other jobs. John was a member of the Enfield Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #2222 and Holy Family Church. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, fishing and woodworking, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family especially the grandchildren. John is survived by his three children; Linda Morris & her husband Steven of Vernon, John Coffey & his wife Lorraine of Enfield and Timothy P. Coffey & his wife Jill of Suffield, his six beloved grandchildren; Sarah Popielarczyk & her husband Devon, Glen Morris, Jennifer Coffey, Sean Coffey, Justin Coffey & Jonah Coffey. He is also survived by a sister; Mary Kay Davies of GA, along with several nieces & nephews. His family would like to thank the Dr. & staff of the ICU @ St. Francis Hospital for the kind & compassionate care given to John and Fr. Brian Sheridan for prayers and administering the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday (July 19, 2012) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral Services will be held on Friday (July 20, 2012) at 10:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels. Interment will follow with military honors in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Home & Community Health Services, Inc. Hospice Program, P.O. Box 1199, Enfield, CT 06083-1199.
