John "Jack" Wells Obituary

John “Jack” Stanley Wells was born on June 3, 1918 in New Britain, CT. He passed on Friday January 17, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT in the presence of his loving family. Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years Jeanne (Goyette) Wells, his son Mark and his wife Beverly of Manchester, CT, John and his wife Lori of Enfield, CT and Daniel and his wife Alison also of Enfield, CT. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Christopher, Trevor, Ashley, Rachel, Matthew and Joshua. Along with Matthews wife Amanda and their two daughters, Jacks great granddaughters Madelin and Charlotte. He also leaves three brothers, Bruce Wells and his wife Gladys of Camp Hill, PA, Robert Wells and his wife Diane of Florida and Larry Wells and his wife Vivian also of Florida. He was predeceased by his son Philip Wells in 1992 and his first wife Mildred Wells, along with his parents John B. Wells and Katherine Stanley Wells. He graduated from Principia High School in St. Louis, MO and then enlisted in the U.S. Army having served from February of 1943 to January 1946, he was discharged as a Captain, he was stationed in Italy during World War II and served in Headquarters 1710th Signal Service Battalion. He received The European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. Jack was a resident of Enfield, CT for over 60 years. He was an avid reader and had many fond memories of time spent with his family at Kelsey's Island in CT and at "Moose Mountain" in New Hampshire. Before he retired in 1998 Jack had his own business, John S. Wells Associates which was his pride and joy for several years. Jack worked in sales for machining tools and equipment throughout his entire career. At Jack’s request funeral services are private.
