John J. Markowski, Jr., of Enfield passed from his earthly journey at the age of 68 on Sunday (March 4, 2012) with his loving family by his side at Yale-New Haven Medical Ctr. John was the beloved husband of 43 years to Patricia (Zmitruk) Markowski. He was born on September 7, 1943 in New Britain, CT son of the late John J. Sr., and Sophie (Polomsky) Markowski. He was a “1962” graduate of Pulaski H.S. and then went on to serve his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. John had resided in Enfield for 38 years and in New Britain prior to that. Before retiring in 2007 he was employed by the Town of Enfield Public Works Dept. for 34 years. John was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who dedicated his life to his family, his greatest joy was spending quality time with his two granddaughters, Angela & Hannah. In his free time he loved to sort through his “treasures” and watching the New England Patriots games. John was a parishioner of Holy Family and served as an Usher for many years. Besides his beloved wife Patricia, he is survived by his two loving daughters Pam Markowski and partner Don of Enfield and Debbie Lanagan and husband Rick also of Enfield, his two beautiful granddaughters Angela Markowski & Hannah Lanagan. He also leaves to mourn his passing, a brother Eugene Markowski & his wife Sue of Windsor, CT, two sisters Florence Tardif and husband Gerard of New Britain and Barbara Sargeant and husband William of Plantsville along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday (March 8, 2012) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. The funeral procession will form on Friday (March 9, ) at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Family Church 23 Simon Rd. Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain.
