John Milvae Obituary

John N. Milvae, 63, of Enfield, passed from his earthly journey, to be reunited with his beloved wife in Heaven, on Tuesday May 31, 2011 at Hebrew Home & Hospital in W. Hartford. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara C. (Freeman) Milvae (12/09) and son of the late Donald and Pearl Milvae. He was born on March 5, 1948 in Hartford, CT and had resided in Enfield since 1976 and Hartford prior to that. John served his country honorably with the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17 and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart after receiving multiple life changing injuries while serving time overseas during the Vietnam War. He was a welder by trade and worked for various firms before founding his own business, Jack & Sons Welding of which he operated for many years. John played softball for over 30 years and was very involved with the USSSA league, along with umpiring men’s and women’s softball in Enfield. John always enjoyed playing a good game of cribbage with his best friend Corky. He volunteered with the Americans youth football team, also a Webelos Scout Leader and a member of the Enfield Gun Club for many years. He is survived by his two children, Meichelle Shaw of Waterford and Donald Milvae and his wife Diane of Enfield, his beloved grandchildren, Robin, Michael, Adam and Lauren Shaw, Tyler Brodeur, Steven Berry and Marissa and Laura Milvae. He is also survived by two sisters, Mathilda Martin and her husband Charles of Windham, CT and Donna St. George and her husband, Ciro of FL, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Donald & Robert Milvae and two sisters, Roxanne Cronley and Elizabeth Bogun. A Memorial Service will be held at 8:00 pm on Friday (June 3, 2011) with Fr. John Melnick officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by Military Honors. Relatives and friends may gather with his family prior to the service from 5 to 8 pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of his family.
