John Montagno

John F. Montagno, 67, of Enfield passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday June 17, 2009. He was born on April 18, 1942 in Hartford, CT the son of Anna (Yonkus) Bennet of Enfield and the late John F. Montagno. He grew up in Hartford and resided in Enfield most of his adult life. John was a graduate of Springfield College where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Humanities. John served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy. He was formerly employed for several years with the Newington Bridge & Iron Co. John enjoyed hunting and fishing he was an avid NY Yankee's & Giants fan, a friend of Bill W. and member of the East Windsor Sportsmen Club. Besides his mother John is survived by his son, Jay T. Montagno of Agawam, MA, his daughter, Caroline Quagliaroli of Enfield, his three grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler and Mitchell Quagliaroli. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Joan & Henry Hawley of AZ, his nieces and nephews Jason and Karen Hawley and Kimberly and Joseph Montagno and many friends. Along with his father he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Montagno. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday June 22, 2009 at 8:00 pm. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield with military honors following. His family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 5 to 8 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Assoc. of CT 43 Ash St. East Hartford, CT 06108-3272.
