John O'Hagan Obituary

John G. O’Hagan, 79 of Enfield entered peacefully into eternal life on Sunday Dec. 19, 2010 surrounded by loved ones at his daughter’s home in Ellington. John was the beloved husband of Dorothea (Gessner) O’Hagan and son of the late Francis J. and Eveline (McGlinchey) O’Hagan. He was born on Oct. 31, 1931 in Yonkers, New York and had resided in Enfield for over 50 years. He was a graduate of Bulkeley H.S. Class of 1950 in Harford. John went on to serve his country honorably with the US Air Force during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with AT&T for 38 years. He was an active Commissioner, 25 year and lifetime member, and Deputy Chief from 1970-1988 of the North Thompsonville Fire Dept., founding member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club CT Chapter #2, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 50, Enfield, 3 Wheelers Club in Monson, MA and member of the AMVETS Post 18, Enfield. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and traveled many times across the U.S., enjoyed waterskiing, sailboating, snowmobiling, reading, computers and various types of music. Besides his wife, Dorothea of 55 years he is survived by his children; Evelyn Mak and husband Raymond of Windsor, David O’Hagan of Ellington, Diane O’Hagan and John Riel of Ellington, Frank O’Hagan and Jodi Gauthier of Chicopee, MA and Marian O’Hagan of Enfield, his beloved grandchildren; Jessica Woike, Eric Mak, Sarah Mak, Ian O’Hagan and Heather Teece Shultz. He is also survived by his three sisters; Sheila Jadovich, Evelyn O’Hagan both of Avon and Frances Peterson of Unionville along with many nieces and nephews and his cousins Joe and Bernadette Savage of Windsor Locks. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Wednesday (Dec. 22, 2010) from 4 to 8 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Thurs (Dec. 23, 2010) with the procession forming at 9:15 am from the funeral home to St. Martha’s Church for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial followed by interment with military honors in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice 111 Founders Plaza Ste. 200 East Hartford, CT 06108.
