John A. Weeks, Sr., 76, of Enfield, beloved husband of Philomena (Vigone) Weeks for 50 years, entered into eternal rest, Thursday January 31, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital Hartford, CT. Born May 7, 1931 in Amity, ME, the son of the late Samuel and Phyllis (Farrar) Weeks, John had resided in Enfield for 50 years. A recipient the Korean Service Medal and a Meritorious Unit Commendation, John served his country with distinction in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement John had been employed at Continental Baking Co. for 8 yrs. and before that Tip Top Bread for 25 yrs. He was a member of Amvets Post #18, the Washington Irving Council # 50 Knights of Columbus 3rd degree Enfield, also the Rev. William P. Kilcoyne Assemble 4th Degree, and it's color guard. John enjoyed bowling, playing cards and travel. A loving grandfather, John cherished time spent with his grandchildren. Besides his wife, John is survived by his children; John A. Weeks, Jr. and Denise Mitchell both of Enfield, his grandchildren; Thomas, Jonathan and Tegan, 3 brothers; Gregory, Leo and Samuel Weeks, all of FL, a sister Daphene Frantz of Ohio and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Bryce Weeks. John's family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, February 3, 2008 from 2 to 5 pm. A funeral procession will form 9 am at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield Monday, February 4, 2008 to St. Martha's Church for a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will take place in Hazardville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha's Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield, CT 06082.
