Joseph Angelica Obituary

Joseph P. Angelica, of Enfield entered peacefully into eternal life at the age of 84 on Friday November 13, 2009 at home with his loving family at his side. Joseph was the beloved husband of Irene (O'Donnell) Angelica. He was born on August 25, 1925 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield son of the late Peter and Anna (Frangiamore) Angelica and resided in Enfield throughout his life. He was a graduate of Enfield High School and then went on to serve his country honorably with the U.S. Amphibious Forces during WW II, having served under General Dwight D. Eisenhower and was part of the Normandy Invasion, June 6, 1944 and was also subsequently active in Europe and the Pacific. Prior to his retirement in 1987, Joe was employed by Pratt & Whitney in the Test Engineering Dept. for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer and a former member of Edgewood Country Club. Joe especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Joe was a devoted and loving husband for 53 years to his wife, Irene and beloved father to Amanda Vesce and her husband, John of Somers, Jeffrey Angelica and his wife, Patricia of Somers and Daniel Angelica and his wife, Julie of Enfield, loving grandfather to John Vesce, IV, Alexandra and Rebecca Angelica. Joe is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Rosario and Kathy Angelica of South Windsor, a sister, Mary Colturi of Suffield and a brother-in-law, Charles Barone of Enfield, a sister-in-law, Anne-Marie Woods and sister-in-law, Mildred O'Brien and her husband, John, along with a special niece, MaryEllen O'Brien Kempton and many other nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sisters, Lucy Nigro and Nina Barone and a brother-in-law, Louis Colturi.
Relatives and friend are invited to gather with his family on Monday November 16, 2009 during calling hours from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 17, with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick's Church, Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital P.O. Box 3704 Memphis, TN 38173-3704.
