Joseph Frangiamore

Joseph “Joe” A. Frangiamore, 93 of Enfield, passed away Thursday (April 4, 2013) at Parkway Pavilion, Enfield. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene E. (VanGuilder) Frangiamore and loving son of the late Salvatore “Sam” and Angelina (D’Angelo) Frangiamore. Joe was born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield and remained a resident all of his life. Joe served honorably as a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII. It was during this time that he met Sergeant Irene VanGuilder and after a 2 week, whirlwind romance, they were married. He was stationed in Reno NV as a cook and was member of the Army boxing team. He was also a member of the K-9 and falconry unit where he trained his German Shepherd and Peregrine Falcon. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Emery Air Freight, Bigelow Sanford Power House, Burns Market, later Caronna’s Market and for many years at Pleasant View Driving Range. Joe was a retired Lieutenant in the Thompsonville Fire Department. He was a member of the P F Triggs Post 1501 VFW national champion drum corps, American Legion, AMVETS, and Knights of Columbus. He was a member and past president of his golf league at Grassmere Country Club. Joe is survived by three daughters; Nancy Tesla and her husband Raymond, Diane Malley, Karen Kwiecienski and her husband Paul, and a son Joseph Frangiamore and his wife Joyce. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael & Gerri Malley, Jay & Julie Malley, Brooke & Steve Hawkins, Casey & Leigh Kwiecienski, Corey & Tim Rogers, Karen, Lisa & Shawn Forin, Joe & Jess Frangiamore, Nick Frangiamore, Jenna Frangiamore along with numerous great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers Benny and John Frangiamore, his sister Rosalie Fiore and his sister Ann Sheak. In addition to his wife and parents, Joe is also predeceased by his son in law Michael Malley, his brothers; Roy, Anthony, Vernon and Dominic and his sisters; Josephine Mammano, Sophie Gatto, Sadie Palmieri and Jenny Frangiamore. Joe’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Parkway Pavilion for all the loving care Joe received. The family will also be eternally grateful to The Browne Family for excellent service and compassion. Visitation for Joe will be held Monday (April 8, 2013) at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd, Enfield from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday (April 9, 2013) at Holy Family Church beginning 10:00am. A funeral procession will form at the funeral home 9:00 am. Burial with military honors will take place at St Patrick King Street Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Memorial donations in Joe's memory may be made to Parkway Pavilion, Attention Recreation Department, 1157 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082.
