Joseph A. Jean, 83, of Palm Bay, FL and formerly of Enfield, CT, beloved husband of 59 years to Jeannette C. (Lessard) Jean, entered into eternal life on Tuesday June 17, 2008 in Palm Bay, FL. Joseph was born on February 23, 1925 in Fall River, MA, the son of the late Arthur and Marie (Quinlivan) Jean and had resided in Florida for the past 17years and prior to that in Enfield since 1959.
He served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy during WWII. Prior to retiring in 1987 Joseph was employed for 33 years with the Steamfitters Local 218 in Hartford, CT. He was an honorary life member of the 3rd & 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus. Joseph invested much of his time with his family. They are his legacy.
Besides his loving wife, Jeannette he is survived by a daughter, Carol (Jean) Lytwyn of Palm Bay, FL, a son, Joseph A. Jean, Jr. and his wife, Sharon of Enfield, a daughter, Claire (Jean) Williams and her husband, Jim of Bristol, a son, Paul Jean and his wife, Gail of Bristol and a son-in-law, Douglas Shirtcliff of Enfield, his 12 beloved grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by a daughter, Linda (Jean) Shirtcliff in November 2005. A private funeral service was held in Palm Bay, FL with military honors on June 21, 2008.
