Joseph Lauria

Joseph P. Lauria, 88, of Enfield, CT. passed away Thursday, (March 26, 2009) at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband for 60 years to Esther L. (D'Amato) Lauria, who passed away November, 2008. He was born on November 20, 1920 to the late Calogero and Calogera "Lillian" (Iantorno) Lauria. Joseph was a life long resident of Thompsonville/Enfield, attended local public schools and served in the United State Army 79th Infantry Division stationed in Germany during World War II receiving several decorations and citations. After starting his own local small business along with a short tenure as a meat-cutter, Joseph was employed by Esquire Gas Products for over 30+ years before retiring in 1982. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a longtime member of the AMVETS and James Rinaldi-Roy Fede Posts.<br>Joseph is survived and will be missed by sons Charles A. and his wife Joan, and Frederick P. of Somers, CT. He also leaves a sister, Lillian Strumski and her husband Al, a sister- in &ndash;law, Ann Lauria of Enfield, along with several other brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Esther and parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Carmella Battisti and his brother, Samuel Lauria.<br>Funeral services for Joseph will be held on Wednesday April 1, 2009, with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 AM from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT. to St. Patrick's Church, High Street Enfield, CT. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM. Burial with military honors will be in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery in Enfield. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00- 8:00 PM on Tuesday March 31, 2009 at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels.<br>Memorial Contributions can be made in Joseph's name to the Enfield Community Ambulance Fund P.O.
