Joseph Miskin

Joseph S. Miskin, 81, of West Suffield, beloved husband of the late Eleanor S. (LaFrance) Miskin, died peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford, Connecticut on February, 3, 1930, Joseph was the son of the late Abraham and Leah (Karelefsky) Miskin. Joseph has been a resident of Suffield for forty-four years and was a parishioner of St. Martha Church. He owned Miskin Distributors for twenty-five years and retired in 1996; and was previously employed as a machinist for many years. He volunteered at the prison and area nursing homes as a musician and entertainer. Joseph proudly served his country with the United States Army and the Connecticut Air National Guard during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era up until 1984. Joseph is survived by his loving children, Douglas Miskin and his wife, Kathleen of Southwick, MA, Robert Miskin and his wife, Donna of Frankford, DE, Steven Miskin and his wife, Karen of Enfield, Donald Miskin and his wife, Linda of Terryville, CT, Debra Camerota and her husband, Steven of Enfield, and Cindy Adams and her husband, Richard of West Suffield, CT; eighteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; his brother, David Miskin of Florida; two sisters, Myrna Obrzut of West Hartford and Roslyn Chancey of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to St. Martha Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Suffield. Joseph’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082.
