Joyce Heavener, of Enfield, passed from her earthly journey at the age of 62, with loved ones at her side, on Friday January 29, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Ctr., Hartford, CT. Joyce was born on April 1, 1953 in Cheverly, MD, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mildred (Fox) Heavener. She was a graduate of Enfield High School, and then went on to nursing school and was an LPN for many years. She had also resided in Stafford Springs for 30 years. Joyce loved to spend time at the beach, was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving family and friends. Joyce is survived by her three loving children, Daniel Gatto & wife Erin of Portland, CT, Jessica McDevitt & husband Brian of Auburn, NH and Samantha Landry of Enfield, her four adored & cherished grandchildren, John and Meara McDevitt and Chad and Whitney Gatto. She is also survived by a brother, David F. Heavener & wife Tracy of Stafford Springs, and a sister, Paula Thomas & husband Steve of Enfield, along with several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by a sister, Gail Heavener. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Tuesday Feb. 2, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral Services for Joyce will take place on Wednesday Feb. 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels with Pastor Greg Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield.
