Judy Barrows Obituary

Judy (Jackman) Barrows, 68, of Enfield entered into eternal life with her loving family at her side on Saturday (January 1, 2011) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. She was the beloved wife of Richard Barrows and daughter of the late Joseph and Marion (Crombie) Jackman. Judy was born on January 5, 1942 in Amsterdam, New York and was a lifetime resident of Enfield. She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Angels Academy in Enfield and continued her education at St. Joseph’s College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and went on to receive her Master’s Degree from the University of Connecticut in Education. Judy touched many people’s lives especially through her teaching English as a second language and with Literacy Volunteers. She was a devoted Nana and caregiver. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and crossword puzzles but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Her family would especially like to thank Joann Somerville for her love and guidance. Besides her loving husband Richard of 42 years she is also survived by her beloved son Rick Barrows and his wife Carolyn of Ellington and loving daughter Beth Sheridan and her husband Dan of Suffield, her four cherished grandchildren Madisyn, Erin, Molly and Lauren Sheridan, her sister Carol Murkett and her husband Ken of Port Orange, FL, her three nephews Timothy, Jeffrey and Daniel Murkett, two loving aunts Bert Crombie and Lil Jatkevicius along with many, many cousins and dear friends especially Linda Prajzner.
