Kathleen K. (Kiernan) Croteau, 74, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest, with her loving family at her side, in the comfort of her home on Sunday Nov. 29, 2015. Kathleen was the beloved wife of 35 years to the late Raymond T. Croteau (2013). She was born on Sept. 15, 1941 in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Edward and Jessie F. (Muhlieb) Kiernan. Kathleen was a graduate of East Hartford H.S. Class of 1959 and had resided in Enfield for the past 47 years and in E. Hartford before that. Kathleen was employed with Hamilton Standard / Sundstrand for 30 years, retiring as a supervisor in the Soldering Dept. in 2005.
She was a member of the Grassmere C.C Ladies League and Airways Golf League. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, grew the best tomatoes, golfing, knitting, playing cards, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Kathleen is survived by her loving children; Kevin Barnett & wife Sue, of Manchester, Denise Barnett of E. Hartford, Susan Dettore & husband Edward of E. Hartford, Jay Barnett & wife Patty of Lunenburg, VT, Marianne Bernardini & husband Brad of Mullica Hill NJ, Linda Manning & husband Chris of Middlebury, CT, Donna Goff & husband James of Wilbraham, MA, Kim Mason & husband John of Wales, MA and Michael Croteau of W. Springfield, MA, her 14 beloved grandchildren and 3 cherished great grandchildren, her two dogs, Mika & Penny.
She is also survived by a brother Gerald Kiernan of High Springs, FL, two sisters, Janet Nevue of Stafford Springs and Ann Malucci of Bolton, a sister-in-law, Lucine Provencher of Enfield, along with a special nephew Marc Nevue & wife Jennifer of S. Windsor, a special niece Michele Titus of Stafford Springs and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kathleen was predeceased by a son David J. Barnett (1999).
Relatives and friends may gather with Kathleen’s family during calling hours on Thursday Dec. 3, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service with Pastor Barry Andrusik officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Hazardville Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations in her memory be made to the Yale-New Haven Hospital, Office of Development for Kidney Transplant Services, P.O. Box 1849 New Haven, CT 06508-9979.
