Kenneth "Ken" Courteau

Kenneth “Ken” F. Courteau, 89, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Thursday April 30, 2015 at East Longmeadow Nursing Center, East Longmeadow, MA. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to the late Margaret “Peggy” (Bailey) Courteau. Kenneth was born on May 2, 1925 in Springfield, MA the son of the late Thomas and Lillian (Cheeney) Courteau. He was a lifelong resident of Enfield. Ken served his country proudly with the U.S. Navy during WW II, on the UUS Halsey-Powell and survived the Kamikaze Attack. Prior to retiring Ken owned and operated Ken’s Heating Co., he also worked at Troiano’s Oil and then Keller Oil before opening his own business. He was a member of the Tanguay-Magill Post 80 American Legion and Patrick F. Triggs Post 1501 VFW. Ken enjoyed sharing stories about the war and trips to the casinos. Ken is survived by a son Kenneth Courteau & his wife Sheryl of Somers, a daughter Karen Weinberg & her husband Larry of Springifeld, MA and a daughter Carol Bullington of Springfield, MA, who was his primary caregiver, his companion of many years Helen Fressola, his beloved grandchildren Sean Weinberg, Jennifer & Roberto Martinez, Jeffrey & Heather Weinberg, Jamie & Aidan Butler Michael Bullington, Shannon Courteau, Kevin Courteau, his cherished great grandchildren Brianna, Skylar, Drew & Kayla. Ken was predeceased by a great grandson Jordan Wienberg. A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated on Monday May 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Barry Andrusik officiating, calling hours will be prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Interment with military honors will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.
