Kenneth E. "POPS" Provencher 80, a lifelong resident of Enfield, passed away Friday (Oct 2) at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Kenneth lost his beloved wife of 59 years, Irene (Bocwinski) Provencher, February 7, 2009. He was the son of the late Earl & Hilda ( Menard) Provencher. During Kenneth's life time he worked with his grandfather at J. Provencher and Son Contracting, then continuing the family tradition he worked with his brother at August and Provencher Builders, also working at Pratt & Whitney as a fireman for almost three decades. Kenneth (Pops) was a member of the North Thompsonville Fire Department for over 50 years, a former Deputy Chief and an active Commissioner for the North Thompsonville fire department. He loved his sports teams the New England Patriots, UCONN Women' s Basketball Team, and the Boston Red Soxs. Pops loved his trips to the Amish Country and Cape Cod with his family. He is survived by his two daughters: Barbara Franklin and her husband Michael of Enfield, Suzanne Noble and her husband George of Enfield, a son Richard Provencher and wife Lisa of Fort Ann, NY , a daughter-in-law- Wendy Provencher of Enfield and ten cherished grandchildren; Michael Franklin Jr. and wife Vicki, Shawn Franklin and wife Faith, Jaimie Polanski and her husband John, Shannon Noble, Matthew Noble, Christopher Noble, Stacie Provencher, Kelsey Provencher, Michele Provencher, and two great grandchildren Alex Franklin and Joshua Polanski. Sadly Kenneth was pre-deceased by a son Kenneth M., and two bothers Earl and Gordon Provencher. Funeral service will be held Monday October 5, 2009, funeral procession forming 9:00am at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Road to St. Adalbert Church for a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial immediately followed by interment in St. Adalbert's Cemetery with Firemen's Honors. Visitation for Pops will be Sunday 4-8 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels.
