Leo J. Lemay Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2019 in Rocky Hill, CT with his family by his side. Leo was born on December 17, 1942 to his parents, Leo J. Lemay Sr. and Elizabeth (Hooper) Lemay. Leo grew up in Chicopee MA and was a 1961 graduate of St. Francis Preparatory High School in Biddeford, Maine. He was pre-deceased by his wife Carolyn on July 10, 2016. Leo lived most of his life in Enfield, CT. He was a wonderful, husband, father, pepe, and great-pepe to his family. Working many jobs to support his family, Leo, retired from Pratt and Whitney (United Technologies) in 1999 after 35 years. Leo leaves his three children to cherish his memory, daughter Alison Wells, her husband Dan of Enfield, CT, son Chris Lemay and his wife Kati of Longmeadow, MA and daughter Luellen Perkins, of Rocky Hill, CT. His children brought him back from Florida in April to live out his last days surrounded by those that loved him. Leo was pre-deceased by his wife, parents, including step-father Mickey Borowiec, sister Carol Chapman, her husband Cliff, sister, Shirley Archambault as well as his much loved son-in-law Jeff Perkins. He leaves his grandsons Matthew Wells of Enfield, CT, Joshua Wells (Cassidy) of North Adams, MA, Mary Lemay of Cambridge, MA, Elise Lemay of Longmeadow, MA, and Leah Perkins of Cromwell, CT, Emily and Caitlin Perkins of Rocky Hill, CT. He also leaves, great-granddaughters Madelin and Charlotte Wells of Enfield, CT. Leo leaves his sister-in-law Winnie DeLong-Zinky and her husband Ed of Vernon, CT and brother- in- law Roger Archambault of Springfield, MA. He was “Uncle Junior” and “Uncle Lee” to many nieces and nephews. The Lemay house always had an open door, with Leo being ready to play ping-pong and card games with the neighborhood kids as well as his own. Leo coached Chris’ Enfield little league baseball team and then became an umpire. The family has many happy memories of camping, especially in Rhode Island as well as in Disney World and Canada, playing cards, family dinners and Thanksgiving gatherings. In July 2013, for their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Leo and Carolyn rented a beach house in the Outer Banks, for the entire family and Leo took great pride in winning the family cribbage tournament. During their retirement, Leo and Carolyn fulfilled a lifelong dream, of traveling cross country for 6 months. They retired to Florida in 2003, enjoying the year round warm weather and playing much golf. Leo made a “Hole in One” in 2006. Leo stated on many occasions he made some of the best friends of his life in retirement at Southport Springs. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church (St. Raymond of Penafort Parish) 64 Pearl Street, Enfield, CT on Wednesday 8-7-19 at 10:00 Am. Please meet at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank those very special friends in Florida for helping Leo and his family so much prior to and after his return to Connecticut.
