Lorraine Anne (McNamara) Gagliardi, 83, of East Hartford entered into eternal life surrounded by her family on Sunday May 3, 2009 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford. Lorraine was the beloved wife of 45 years to Joseph D. Gagliardi. She was born on March 14, 1926 in Hartford, CT daughter of the late Daniel F. and Mary Elizabeth (Rooney) McNamara and was a lifelong resident of East Hartford. Lorraine was formerly employed for 19 years with Travelers Insurance Co. She was a longtime parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in East Hartford. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She led a simple life, a life that revolved around her loving family and friends. Besides her husband Joseph she is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Cunningham and her husband, Kevin of Enfield, her beloved grandchildren, Megan and Brian Cunningham, her sister, Eleanor Gunning of Suffield, a sister-in-law, Estelle McNamara of Windsor Locks along with many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her two sisters, Elizabeth Raycraft and Dorothy McNamara and two brothers, Daniel F. McNamara and John McNamara. Her family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff of the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center and Hartford Hospital for their kind, compassionate and sincere care for Lorraine.
Funeral services in celebration of Lorraine's life will be held on Thursday May 7, 2009 with the funeral procession forming at 9 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield to St. Adalbert's Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial interment will follow in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery in Enfield. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday May 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels.
