LONGMEADOW - Maria de Lourdes (Robillard) Contrino, “Lou,” 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed into eternal life surrounded by loving family on November 13, 2019. She was born in Springfield, MA, to the late Paul E. Robillard and Marie (Duguay) Robillard on January 20, 1937. Lourdes was a 1955 graduate of Commerce High School. Lourdes was a secretary for Chain Belt Company in Springfield, MA, before she left to raise her family. Later in life, Lourdes was a secretary at EBTEC Corp and later at Southworth Paper Company until she returned to school to become an Electrologist. Lourdes owned and managed her Electrology business for more than 20 years and became consultant to the Atty General for Electrology in the state of CT. Lourdes loved her family dearly and was proud of each as an individual. Lourdes had a strong faith and was devoted to Jesus by praying to His Mother Mary, her namesake, “Our Lady of Lourdes”. In addition to her parents, Lourdes was predeceased by two sisters, one brother, and two brothers-in-law; Marie Lillianne Raiche, Andree Welch, Paul Robillard, Joseph Raiche, and Bennie Contrino. She leaves her beloved husband of 61 years, John “Jay” Contrino, two daughters, Nina Coughlin and her husband Bret, of Longmeadow; and JoAnne Contrino of East Longmeadow; five grandchildren, Dr. Ryan Coughlin and his wife Lindsay, Lindsay Gill and her husband John Paul, Shane Coughlin, Spencer Guilbault, and Aubree Guilbault; five great grandchildren, Luke and Sophie Gill, Olivia, Ellie, and Miles Coughlin, one sister Deanne Butler and her husband Andy of Ocala, FL, three sisters-in-law, Lena Contrino, Denise Contrino, and Diane Robillard; one brother-in law, Thomas Welch; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. James Freeman; her team of doctors at Hartford Hospital; the Spectrum Hospice team; Dr. Jag, and all nurses and caregivers at Sosin 1 Rehab Center. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Browne Funeral Chapel, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT, on Sunday from 3-6 pm. Lourdes’ funeral service will be held on Monday from the funeral home at 9:45 am followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lourdes’ memory to St. Mary’s Parish, 519 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106 or JGS Lifecare, 770 Converse Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
