Marion Ferguson

Marion C. (Meier) Ferguson, 76 of Enfield Connecticut, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday May 16, 2005. Marion was born July 11, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late William and Lucy (Mentnech) Meier. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Michael J. Ferguson Sr., her children and their spouses Shawn Ferguson and his wife, Norma of Jamestown, RI, Denise Fletcher and her husband, David of Simsbury, CT, Cheryle Buckland and her husband, Lawrence of East Hartland, CT, Sharon Ferguson of Enfield, CT, Michael J. Ferguson Jr. and his wife, Deborah of Wakefield, RI, Kevin Ferguson and his wife, Darlene of Wethersfield, CT, Patrick Ferguson of Enfield, CT, Margaret Ferguson Boyd and her husband, Robert of Exeter, RI. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Besides her immediate family, she is survived by a sister, Frances Curley of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania and a brother, Edwin Meier of Parlin, New Jersey, a sister-in-law, Lorraine May of East Rockaway, NY, and bother-in-law Brian Bogue, of Islip Terrace, NY and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Mary, who died in infancy, two brothers-in-law, James Curley and Donald Bogue, and a sister in law, Maryann Meier. <br>She was a graduate of Bishop McDonalds High School in Brooklyn, NY and an avid Brooklyn Dodgers Fan. She worked for Ingersol Rand in New York City and married Michael John Ferguson on May 7, 1949. She moved to Enfield, CT in 1952 where she dedicated her life to raising her loving family and volunteering her time to the community. She worked for over 14 years for Dr. Calnan's Pediatrician practice in Enfield before retiring in 1993. She also worked for Daly Hall Hill Gardens. She was a long time congregant of Saint Adalbert's Roman Catholic Church in Enfield and had 27 consecutive years of parent participation at Saint Adalbert's School, where she held many leadership roles in the PTA. Her community involvement included years of service to the Girl Scouts of America, Enfield Republican Party, The Women's Club of Enfield and the Connecticut Canine Search and Rescue, Elks Lodge #2222 Emblem Club and the Drug Awareness Program, Enfield Registrar of Voters, the US Census Bureau, the Springfield, MA Jaycee's and the Enfield John Macielek Post #154 Auxillary. She was the 1979 Connecticut Mother of the Year recipient and awarded a recent honor from the Connecticut Search in Rescue for volunteerism. Funeral services in celebration of Marion's life will be held on Friday May 20, 2005 at 11am from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Burial will be immediately following the funeral in Saint Adalbert Cemetery in Enfield, CT. Her family will receive friends at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm on Thursday May 19, 2005. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the following organizations; Women's Club of Enfield Scholarship Foundation C/O Margaret Warzyski 16 Longview Rd., Enfield, CT 06082, Saint Adalbert's School 90 Alden Ave., Enfield, CT 06082, Elks Lodge #2222 Scholarship Foundation P.O.
