Marjorie DiFranco Enfield, Connecticut Obituary

Marjorie DiFranco

Marjorie (Griffin) DiFranco, 79, of Enfield, died Saturday, June 28, 2014. She was the wife of Mario DiFranco and the mother of Sue DiFranco. She was predeceased by her daughter, Diane "Dee" DiFranco, as well as her parents, Joseph and Lillian (Smith) Griffin, and brother, Joseph Griffin, Jr. Marge was born on November 6, 1934 in Boston. She lived in Southie for 19 years before meeting, and falling in love with, Mario, and moving to Enfield, where she remained ever since. Marge worked at Pratt & Whitney before retiring to become a stay-at-home mother. Marge was a lifelong, faithful Catholic and member of St. Patrick's Church. She took great pride in both her Irish heritage and Boston accent, which she felt always connected her to her roots. She was a fan of classical music (Mozart in particular) and movie musicals; she was also an endless reader. She loved to travel (specifically to Europe and Disney World) and spend time at the beach, the ocean being her favorite place in the world. Marge was the least critical person imaginable, always preferring to laugh and help out others. She was rarely seen without flashing her smile and beaming blue eyes. She remained young at heart until the end. Her generosity and altruism were among her defining characteristics. To say she will be missed is a significant understatement. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 by 9:15 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to St. Patrick Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. Marjorie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
