Mary Ann Scarfo Obituary

ENFIELD - Mary Ann Scarfo, age 81, passed away on Sunday morning, January 3rd, 2021. Mary Ann was born on April 11th, 1939 in Meriden, CT to Giovanni and Mary Cazzetta. She married the love of her life, Carl Scarfo, on May 11th, 1957 who preceded her in death in 2006. Mary Ann was the backbone of her family. A devoted wife and mother, she thrived on family time; bringing family together for Sunday dinners was tradition. Her homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs was her signature dish. Celebrating birthdays was always a major event; going “all out” was a given. Christmas was her favorite holiday with an incredible amount of decor, with hours of preparation making homemade raviolis, chocolate cream pies, her famous “S” cookies and a towering apple pie that all the family loved! Mary Ann was employed as a Secretary to the Deputy Warden for the Department of Corrections for many years. She spent time at Hamilton Standard, Windsor Manufacturing, and the Enfield School Department. Mary Ann also worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for her husband’s trucking company, Connecticut Transfer. She attended New Britain High School and Asnuntuck Community College, where she achieved a GPA of 4.0. She thoroughly enjoyed sports, playing the piano, bingo, the casino, music, movies, and a personal favorite, attending concerts at the Enfield Senior Center. She was a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees and UConn Women’s Basketball. She is survived by her four children, Gregory Scarfo and wife Jeaninne of Methuen, MA., Susan Scarfo of Avon, Christopher Scarfo and his partner Cheryl Smith of East Longmeadow, MA., and Pamela Scarfo of Enfield, and grandchildren, Jennifer and Miguel Cruz, Thomas Frothingham, Kimberly and Melissa Snow, Jessica Scarfo, Heather Scarfo, Christa Smith, and Jonathan Scarfo; and great-grandchildren, Mia and Dominic Cruz. She is also survived by her brother, John and his wife, Pauline Cazzetta of Bristol; her sister, Genevieve Henderson of Meriden, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Giovanni and Mary Cazzetta of Meriden, brother, Joseph and his wife Mary Cazzetta of Newington, and her brother-in-law Donald Henderson. All services are private and Mary Ann’s family will have a celebration of life at a later date. For online condolences please visit www.brownefuneralchapel.com
