Michael Falkowski

Michael J. Falkowski 88 of Enfield, husband of the late Helen Milek Falkowski, who passed away in 1985, passed away peacefully at the Veterans Hospital in Rocky Hill on Wednesday December 6, 2006. He was born in Suffield son of the late Harry & Mary Markowski Falkowski and had been a resident of Enfield for most of his life. Mike had been employed at Springfield Trucks, Inc., of MA. as a diesel mechanic for over 38 years, worked as a security guard for many years at Pinkerton Securities in Holyoke MA., and also an Auxiliary Policeman for over 28 years serving the Enfield community, retiring in 1986.<br>Mike served in the US Army during WWII, as a Staff Sargant for the 2nd Armor Division, 702nd Tank Destroyer, Headquarters Company. Mike proudly joined the US Army in 1941 and was called to duty in the invasion of Normandy, landed and fought on Omaha Beach on D-day, continued through northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, including the battle at the Ardennes. He received several metals and ribbons, including the Good Conduct Metal, and was an expert marksman. Mike was a member of the John Maciolek Post 154, American Legion in Enfield, a past member of the Patrick F. Triggs, Post 1501 VFW of the United States. He was a proud veteran. Mike was a communicant of St. Adalbert's church. His favorite past times were fishing, hunting, gardening, helping others and working on his vehicles.<br>Mike leaves behind his two sons Robert Falkowski and his wife Florence of West Suffield CT, John Falkowski and his wife Barbara of Enfield, two grandchildren, Gary Falkowski of Manchester, CT & Brian Falkowski and his wife Robyn of Cheshire CT, a sister Gladys Allar of Enfield and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Michael at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels will be Sunday (12/ 10/06) from 2-6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10:00 am at St. Adalbert's Church Enfield with funeral procession forming at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery Chicopee, MA with Military Honors. Memorial donations may be made to: Rocky Hill Veterans Home & Hospital 287 West St. Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
