Michael "Mike" Paterwic

Michael “Mike” P. Paterwic, of Enfield entered peacefully into eternal life surrounded by his loving family at the age of 82 on Sunday evening (September 16, 2012) at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare. He was born on September 21, 1929 in Somers, CT the son of the late Roman and Eva (Krysiak) Paterwic and had resided most of his life in Enfield and in Somers prior to that. He was a graduate of Rockville H.S. and then went on to serve his country honorably with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Prior to retiring he was employed for many years with the U.S. Postal Service in Windsor and Warehouse Point section of E. Windsor. An avid bingo player he got the nickname of Bingo Mike, his greatest joy in life was spending time with family especially the grandchildren. Michael is survived by his 4 loving daughters; Sharon McCray & her husband Stephen of E. Windsor, Bonnie Santiago of Springfield, MA, Lynn Goncalves of Enfield and Ava Paterwic & her fiancé Roy Thomas of Ellington, their mother Jean C. (Cummings) Paterwic, his five beloved grandchildren; Theresa McCray, Hector “Mikey” Santiago & Melissa Baribeau, Lauren Paterwic& Demmene Syronn, Sandra Vila & Jose “Bebo” Ramos, Avamarie Gonclaves, many foster grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Joseph Paterwic of Oregon and a sister Lenora Jacy & husband Walter of E. Hartford along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by four brothers, Jake, Benjamin, Al and Edward Paterwic. Relatives and friends may gather with his family TODAY Tuesday (September 18, 2012) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Sept. 19, 2012) with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Adalbert Church 90 Alden Ave. Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Enfield Animal Control, 293 Elm Street, Enfield, CT 06082.
