Muriel Magauran Obituary

Muriel Rady Dignam Magauran passed away on December 28th, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Enfield, CT. She was born in Rockville, CT on June 13th,1933, the daughter of Dr. Edward A Dignam and Muriel Rady Dignam. She graduated from Rockville High School and Marymount College in Tarrytown NY, class of 1954. She then taught second grade at the North End School and really loved the children. In 1959, she married Dr. Brendan Magauran from Cavan, Ireland. He had his office attached to the house and Muriel was his assistant until their children started to arrive. The first was Muriel (Bunny) and her late husband, Dr. Brian Benton, Dr. Brendan Magauran Jr who is married to Dr. Ellen Hilsinger of Lexington MA, Dr. John Magauran of Honolulu HI, Tom Magauran and his wife Lissa from New Bedford, MA, Dr. Raymond Maguran and his wife Dr. Kathleen Kerrigan of Longmeadow, MA, Attny Edward D. Magauran and his wife Mika from Honolulu HI, Dr. Anne (Nancy) Magauran from Newburyport, MA, Dr. Mary Magauran and her husband John Smith from Andover, MA, Dr. Maureen Magauran and her husband Dr. Patrick Hanks of North Andover, MA, Dr. James Magauran of Waltham MA, Dr. Claire Magauran and her husband Dr. Puncho Gurung of East Longmeadow, MA, and her daughter Martha Lysik, who predeceased her, from Block Island, RI. Her grandchildren are Rosemary and Ian Benton, Brendan, Dean and Kate Magauran, Rady and Anne Magauran, Christopher and Paige Magauran, Momo Magauran, Cian Magauran, Charlie and Muriel (Molly) Smith, Aidan and Finn Hanks, Lily and Eamon Gurung, Kathleen and Seamus Hemingway. She also leaves cousins Bill and Carol Rady, the Dilenschneider family, Ed and Penny Rady, Steven and Marilyn Dignam, and the Carlson family. Longtime friends are Tina and Ed McLaughin of Madison, CT, Richard Tatoian, Beth Rowan, the LaCroix family and Reverend Anthony Bruno. The wake will be at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Road Enfield, CT on Friday, January 1st, 2021 from 2 to 5 PM. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Martha's Church 214 Brainard Road Enfield, CT on Saturday, January 2nd at 10:30AM. Mask and social distancing is required during the service. Interment will be private. A celebration of Muriel's life will be held later in 2021.
