Natalie Sakalauski Enfield, Connecticut Obituary

Natalie Sakalauski

Natalie J. Sakalauski, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal life at the age of 95, in the comfort of her daughter’s home on Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2012). She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late John F. Sakalauski (1998) and daughter of the late Vincas and Natalija (Urbonas) Juska. Natalie was born on January 9, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY, attended school in Lithuania and returned to America in 1934. She had resided in Enfield for the past 75 years. Before retiring many years ago she was a seamstress for several companies in the area for over 20 years and held various other jobs. A devout Catholic she was a longtime member of St. Bernard Church, Enfield and longtime devoted member of the Third Order of St. Francis. In her free time she visited many shrines in CT, NY and Canada. Her spiritual life flowed into her family life, and she placed her family’s needs in the highest of priorities. She also loved lively Lithuanian singing and dancing, especially enjoying fast paced polkas with her husband. She grew beautiful flowers, and delighted us with her creative efforts from the kitchen. Natalie is survived by her beloved son & daughter-in-law; Gerald & Karen Sakalouski of Enfield, her loving daughter and caregiver; Ilona Sakalauskas and husband William Shakalis of Storrs, CT, her cherished grandsons; Kevin and Mark Sakalouski, along with several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a grandson; Paul G. Sakalouski, two brothers; Leonard Juska & Algimantas Juska and two sisters; Lillian Gelas & Genevieve Juskaite. Enfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernard Church 426 Hazard Ave. Enfield. Interment will then take place in Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
