Norman T. "Squirtsie" Landry, 80 of Enfield, the beloved husband of Mary (Nai) Landry, entered into eternal life on Monday February 18, 2008 surrounded by his loving family at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. He was born on July 21, 1927 in West Haven, CT a son of the late Alyre and Mamie (Bourque) Landry and was a lifelong resident of Enfield. Norman attended St. Joseph's School and Enfield High School. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during WW II and the Korean Wars. Before retiring in 1992 Norman was employed with Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks and Gale Motors in Enfield prior to that. He was a member of the AMVETS Post #18 and the Patrick F. Triggs VFW Post 1501. In his leisure time Norman enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, loved trips to the casino, he had the most beautiful vegetable garden, Jack of all trades, handyman extraordinaire he was loved by all who knew him.
Besides his wife, Mary of 46 years, Norman is survived by his four children, Norman T. "Butch" Landry, Jr. and his wife Bernie of Enfield, Dennis Landry and his wife, Charlene of Costa Mesa, CA, Michele (Landry) Reisinger and her husband, Bob of Folsom, CA and Thomas Landry and his wife, Debbie of Chicopee, MA, his eight loving grandchildren, Chad Landry, Amanda Landry, Adam Landry, Caitlin Fanning, Adam Fanning, Jack Fanning, Christopher Landry and Alyssa Landry. He is also survived by his siblings, Joan Gegesky of Windsor Locks, Phyllis Tanguay, Lawrence Landry and his wife, Hugette, Robert Landry and his brother-in-law, Erik Loos all of Enfield along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his sisters, Annette Loos and Jean Landry and his brother-in-law, Bob Tanguay.
The funeral procession will form on Thursday Feb. 21, 2008 at 9am from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield to St. Martha's Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10am. Interment with military honors will take place in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Norman's family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours on Wednesday Feb. 20, from 4 to 8pm at Browne Funeral Chapels.
