Patricia A. (Doherty) Lavaway, of Enfield, entered into eternal peace on Sunday March 22, 2009 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford. She was born on July 13, 1930 in Bangor, Maine, one of eight children to the late Ambrose and Elizabeth (Bowen) Doherty and had resided in Enfield for the past 50 years. She was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Franklin L. Lavaway (6/01/02). Prior to retirement in 1996 Patricia was employed for over 12 years with Phoenix Life Insurance Co. and before that with Friendly's Restaurant for 7 years.
She was an avid bingo and card player, loved gardening and time spent with her family, a member of the Enfield Senior Citizens and St. Martha's Church. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, her life revolved around her family, for which she leaves many fond memories for them to cherish. Patricia is survived by her children; Mark Lavaway & his wife, Margaret of Canada, Alan Lavaway of Enfield, Deborah Cunningham & her husband, Mark of Kentucky and Marion Wierzbowski of Stafford, her eight beloved grandchildren; Jason, Jake, Jenna, Tyler, Shana, Cole, Cobi and Samuel. She is also survived by a brother, Joseph Doherty of ME, a sister, Madeline MacLaughlin of Canada, sister-in-law, Helen Doherty of ME along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Frederick in 1992 and five siblings. Funeral Services in celebration of Patricia's life will be held on Wednesday March 25, 2009 with a procession forming at 9 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield to St. Martha's Church, Enfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday March 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels.
