Peter P. Giaccone, whose earthly journey ended at the age of 97, passed onto his eternal reward in Heaven on Saturday January 17, 2009 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. He was born on July 25, 1911 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Angelica) Giaccone and was a lifelong resident of Enfield. He was predeceased by the love of his life of 58 years, Leondora (Romano) Giaccone. Peter's first employment was with Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. he then went on to work at Cimino's Restaurant, later he owned and operated Enfield Furniture, he also worked in furniture sales for Korvettes, Brown Thompson and G. Fox & Co. and retired from the Enfield Board of Education after 25 years of service.
He was a member of St Martha's Church and former member of the Knights of Columbus, Loyal Order of the Moose and Grey's Athletic Club. Peter is survived by his two loving daughters; Trina Dean and Leanna Albert both of Enfield, his beloved granddaughter Pamela Annis and her husband Ricky and his close friend Joe. He was predeceased by a Son-in-law, Robert Dean, a brother Nicolas Giaccone and two sisters, Margaret and Josephine Giaccone.
Funeral services in celebration of Peter's life will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2009 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) in St. Martha's Church his family will receive relatives and friends prior to the mass on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Interment will take place in the Thompsonville Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Enfield Community Ambulance Fund PO Box 1249 Enfield, CT 06083-1249.
