Philip LaPointe Obituary

Philip E. LaPointe, of Enfield, entered into eternal life at the age of 91 on Sunday (May 9, 2010) surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of Simone G. (LaForest). He was born on Oct. 10, 1918 in Caswell, Maine son of the late Walter and Agnes (Roi) LaPointe and had resided in Enfield for many years. Philip served his country proudly with the US Army during WW II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Silver Star. Prior to retiring he was employed by U.T.C. for 16 years. He was an avid Red Sox fan and a devout parishioner of St. Adalbert’s Church. Besides his wife Simone, Philip is survived by his sons and daughters; Sandra Talbot & husband Jean of East Haddam, CT, Norma Shannon & husband John of Feeding Hillls, MA, Donald LaPointe & wife Betty of West Haven, CT, Robert LaPointe & wife Marianne of East Haven, CT, Leann Rick & husband Richard of Manchester, CT, Anne Simlick & husband, Henry of Enfield, CT, Dee Cekala of Enfield, CT, Walter LaPointe & wife Mary of Enfield, CT, Bernie LaPointe & wife Gina of Enfield, CT Marita Cunningham & husband Ed of Somers, CT and Pam LaPointe of Suffield, CT, 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren, a brother Adrian LaPointe & his wife Mary Lou of Saco, ME along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Peter Philip LaPointe, eight brothers and four sisters. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Wednesday (5/12/2010) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. Funeral services will take place on Thursday (5/13/2010) with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Adalbert’s Church, Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial followed by military honors. Interment will be at the convenience of his family in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Adalbert’s Church 90 Alden Ave. Enfield, CT 06082.
