Raymond Castoldi, Sr.

Raymond P. Castoldi, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and a good man, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, while surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on Tuesday September 23, 2008 at Parkway Pavilion, Enfield. Raymond was born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield on February 5, 1932 to the late Paulito and Catherine (Brigada) Castoldi. He was a lifelong resident of Enfield. Ray leaves his beloved wife of 50 years Jeanne (Marcel) Castoldi, his caring & loving children; Raymond P., Jr. and his wife, April Castoldi of Pleasantville, NY, Sharon Meehan and her husband, Michael of Enfield, his three beloved grandchildren; Lorenzo and Aliya Castoldi and Brooke Meehan they were his joy. He also leaves to mourn his passing two brothers in law, Jean and Charles Marcel, a sister in law, Suzanne Carter and her husband, Elwood, his nephews, Rick and Mike Risley and a niece, Adele Scully. They and their children brightened his life through the years, as well as friends and good neighbors who did the same. <br>Ray graduated from UCONN, served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force in Germany during the Korean War and was employed as a supervisor and systems analyst with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, retiring in 1992 after 35 years of service. Ray was a communicant of St. Martha's Church, also an avid bowler, Red Sox & Huskies fan, but most of all he loved working outside in his yard and garden; he also loved the seashore. Ray fought a hard year long-battle with pancreatic cancer, so filled with courage & strength he worked in his garden until August. His family would especially like to thank the staff at Parkway Pavilion for their compassionate care given to Ray. Funeral services in celebration of Ray's life will be held on Saturday September 27, 2008 with the procession forming at 9 a.m. from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels to St. Bernard's Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial interment with military honors will follow in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery, Enfield. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday evening Sept. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber Institute 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor Brookline, MA 02445-7226. <br>
