Raymond "Ray" Barcomb

Raymond “Ray” H. Barcomb, of Enfield, entered into eternal life at the age of 89, on Friday (April 12, 2013) at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Ctr., Hartford, CT. Raymond was the beloved husband of Vincie (Zirolli) Reale Barcomb. He was born on January 25, 1924 in Queens, NY, a son of the late Henry R. and Freida Barcomb and had resided in Enfield for many years. Ray served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy during WW II, on the USS Dallas, was stationed in Hawaii and traveled the Pacific. He was employed with Colt Industries and then retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft after many years of service. Ray was a member of St. Adalbert Church, Enfield. Ray had a passion for golfing and in his younger days he caddied for Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan) and for Albbott & Costello, he also enjoyed all types of music and sang on the radio as well as dancing, Ray loved Frankie’s Pizza, where the staff referred to him as “Mr Sprinkle”. Along with his wife Vincie, Raymond is also survived by his children; Diedra Gosline and partner John Roberts of Windham, CT, Mary R. Fliegel of E. Hartford, CT, Cathleen Nassar & her husband Kye of Wales, MA, Carmela Stauffer & husband Ken of Enfield, Thomas Reale & wife Carmelina of Enfield and Louis Reale & wife Lori of Enfield, thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, along with many nieces & nephews and grand-nieces & nephews. A Mass of Chrisitan Burial in celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Friday (April 19, 2013) at 11:00 a.m. in St. Adalbert Church 90 Alden Ave. Enfield followed by military honors. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to DDS/DMR155 Founders Plaza 255 Pitkin Street East Hartford, CT 06108 or the American Heart/Stroke Association P.O. Box 417005 Boston, MA 02241-7005. Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield has been entrusted with arrangements.
