Raymond “Ray” Arthur Martel, 61, of Palm Coast, FL, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 2, 2015 after a fighting a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer. Raymond was born on Oct. 30, 1953 in Kennebunkport, ME, to the late Roger and Gilberte (Pivin) Martel. He had resided in Florida since early 2015 but was a longtime resident of Enfield, CT. Ray served his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era as a military policeman. He was employed as a drywall/taper for over 25 years and was a member of the Painters Union Local 481, District Council 11. In his leisure time Ray enjoyed fishing, boating, going to the beach, and taking trips to the casino. Cooking and grilling were among his favorite pastimes and he was not happy until you had “tried a bite” of one of his creations. Ray is survived by his three children, Daniel Martel of Enfield, Michelle Gray and her husband Nathan of Ludlow, MA and Melissa LeClair and her husband Ryan of Enfield, CT; his three beloved grandchildren Angelina Martel, Mackenzie Gray and Kourtney Gray. He is also survived by his brother Richard Martel and his wife Linda of Summersville, KY and his sister Lynn Dube and her husband Joe of Palm Coast, FL; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ray was predeceased by his brother Michel Martel. Ray’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday July 12, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapel, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. This will be followed by a Memorial Service with will be officiated by Fr. John Melnick.
