Richard Ferris

Richard William Ferris, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest at the age of 82 on Friday July 5, 2013 in Enfield. He was born on December 29, 1930 in Hartford, CT, son of the late William R. and Mabelle (Valder) Ferris. Richard was a graduate of New Britain High School Class of 1949. He served as a military policeman in Germany during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. Richard retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Enfield Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #2222 and the Loyal Order of the Mooose Lodge 1525. Richard will be remembered as a kind & gentle man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving daughter Penny & her husband Joe of Enfield, his adored grandchildren; Justin Calcasola & his wife Kristen and Joy Calcasola, his aunts Laura Stajos and Jean Ferris both of CT, his sisters-in-law; Micky Ferris of East Hampton, CT and Pat Ferris of NC, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his former wife and lifelong friend Rosemary”Binky” Wall and his brothers Donald Ferris and John Ferris. Per Richard’s request there are no calling hours. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday July 12, 2013 at the Enfield Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 2222, 138 North Maple Street, Enfield. Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield is assisting Penny with arrangements.
