Richard “Dick” W. Hickson, of Enfield entered into eternal rest at the age of 84 on Friday (March 25, 2011) at Johnson Memorial Medical Ctr. Stafford Springs. Richard was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Mary (Rinaldi) Hickson in 2005. He was born on November 29, 1926 in Chicopee, MA a son of the late Richard J. and Dora (Benoit) Hickson and had resided in Enfield for over 50 years. Richard was employed years ago with the former Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. then started his own painting business, Hickson Painting of which he was well know for his expertise in painting many of the Victorian and Colonial homes in the Thompsonville and surrounding areas for over 45 years. In his leisure time he enjoyed carpentry and building all kinds of clocks, having had a passion for music he loved playing the piano and organ. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church. Richard is survived by his two loving sons; Richard A. Hickson and Dennis C. Hickson and his wife Denyse all of Enfield, his two beloved granddaughters; Heather Hickson of FL and Amber Hickson of Enfield, three nieces; Dianne Stevens, Linda Rinaldi Burks, and Gayle Story and his companion Catherine Darmochwat of Agawam, MA,. He was also predeceased by three sisters; Doris Oschenkowski, Elizabeth Langlois and Lorraine Emerson. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Monday (March 28, 2011) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday (March 29) with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. to St. Patrick Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Partrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield.
