Robert A. Maticke, Sr. 71, of North Port, FL and formerly of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Wed. March 19, 2008 in Florida. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to Katherine R. (Grischuk) Maticke. After having lived in Enfield for 41 years he and his wife, Katherine moved to Florida 5 years ago. Robert served his country honorably with the U.S Marine Corps during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement in 2002, he was employed by Ogden Security as Security Director for ITT/ The Hartford for 11 years and before that with the Hartford Police Department for 9 years. Robert was a former member of the Enfield Conservation Commission and the Enfield Republican Town Committee. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor activities. Besides his wife Katherine, he is survived by a son, Steven R. Maticke and his wife, Laurie J. of Enfield; a son, Robert A. Maticke Jr. of Enfield, a daughter, Victoria A. Colson and her husband, Thomas of Feeding Hills, MA; a daughter, Katherine P. Mendelson and her husband, Marc of Enfield; a daughter Constance Maticke and Bill Polletti of Enfield; a daughter, Loretta E. Maticke of St. Barth, FWI, and his 12 beloved grandchildren. Robert also leaves his 3 sisters, Margaret Oxford of PA, Dorothy Calvert of Long Island, NY, and Florence Armata of FL along with many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass in celebration of Robert's life will be held on Saturday April 5, 2008 at 11:00 am in St. Martha's Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield with military honors to follow. Burial will be at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc. 2550 US Highway 1 N.
