Roger D. Andersen, Sr. of Enfield entered into eternal life at the age of 83 on Monday (October 3, 2011) with loved ones by his side. Roger was the beloved husband of Elsie (Trehey) Andersen and son of the late Soren and Christiana (Nielson) Andersen. He was born on January 8, 1928 in McIntosh, Minnesota and had resided in Enfield since 1952. Roger served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy & Air Force during WW II and the Korean War. As a Tool and Die Maker for 39 years he was employed with Peerless Tool and Machine Co. and also with Windsor Manufacturing having retired many years ago. He remained active volunteering at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare and the Big E. Roger was a member of the Mawaga Sporting Club, Holy Family Church and Knights of Columbus Council 50, Enfield. In his leisure time he enjoyed reading, camping, traveling across the USA, woodworking, painting, along with attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals. He was a longtime fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Huskies, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his loving family. Besides his loving wife Elsie of almost 60 years, Roger is also survived by his four children Barbara Hargraves & her husband Bruce of Enfield, David Andersen of Enfield, Roger Andersen, Jr. & his wife Jewel of Longmeadow, MA and Timothy Andersen & his wife Kristina of Joliet, IL, his 10 beloved grandchildren Graig Hargraves, Emily Santaniello & husband Carmine, Tara Peterson & husband Jeffrey, Kevin Andersen, Bryan Andersen, Jason Andersen, Cory Andersen, Ethan Andersen, Ryan Andersen and Gavin Andersen, his great granddaughter Ava Elsie Santaniello. He is also survived by one sister Gladys Myhre of Randolph, VT, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Andersen and two sisters Helen Clementson and Mildred Hagen. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday (October 6, 2011) from 4 to 8 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday (October 7, 2011) with the procession forming at 9:00 am to Holy Family Church 23 Simon Rd. Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Parkway Resident Council Fund, 1157 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082
