Rose Kaplan

Rose Sarkis (Gashgorian) Kaplan, of Enfield entered into eternal life at the age of 82 on Wednesday (Aug. 25, 2010) at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs with loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Edward Kaplan, Sr. and daughter of the late Sarkis and Veronica (Gooreghian) Gashgorian. Rose was born on January 11, 1928 in New Britain, CT and as a youngster she was raised and attended elementary schools there and was a graduate of New Britain High School. She had resided in Enfield for 44 years and various places throughout the U.S. and Germany during Ed’s 20 year military career. Rose was employed by the Enfield Board of Education and retired after 20 plus years of service. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Rose’s true joy in life came from spending time with her family. She leaves many fond memories for them to cherish. A kind, loving and generous person she always put others needs before her own. Besides her loving husband Ed of 62 years she is survived by her three children; Deborah Rose Roman and her husband, David of North Granby, CT, Edward Kaplan and his wife, Linda of Suffield and Marc Kaplan and his wife, Mary of Enfield, her eight beloved grandchildren; Michelle Gyngell and husband, Gordon of Colchester, David R. Roman, Jr of Allston, MA, Elizabeth Veronica Roman of N. Granby, Barbara Ann Kaplan of Suffield, Allison Beth Kaplan of Enfield, Connor Edward Kaplan of Suffield, Jessica Lynn Kaplan of Enfield, Casey Rose Kaplan of Suffield and two loving great grandchildren; Aiden Michael and Emma Rose Gyngell. Rose is also survived by a sister Margaret Odishoo of Kensington along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a brother Michael Gashgorian. The family would especially like to thank the staff of the 2nd floor ICU at Johnson Memorial Hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care for Rose. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Friday (Aug. 27, 2010) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday (Aug. 28, 2010) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Adalbert’s Church 90 Alden Ave. Enfield followed by interment in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers her family has requested memorial donations in her memory be made to the American Diabetes Association CT & WMA Office 2080 Silas Deane Highway 2nd floor Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
