Russell McClintock

Russell Henry McClintock, 88, of Enfield and Newbury, VT, beloved husband of Carolyn “Lindy” passed away on March 4, 2014 after a short illness. He was born on June 29, 1925 in Wells River, VT, son of the late Gilbert and Bernice McClintock. Russell served in the U.S. Navy during WW II flying in the Martin PBM Mariner amphibian plane. After he was honorably discharged he attended and graduated from University of VT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. It was there he met his beloved wife Lindy and they were married in Greensboro, VT on September 9, 1950. Russell was employed by Hamilton Standard/Sundstrand for 35years retiring as a configuration manager in January 1987. While employed there he was active in their bowling and softball leagues as a player and manager. He also was heavily involved with activities surrounding the love of his Labrador Retrievers; whether in the breed or obedience show rings, field trials, hunt tests and tracking. He was an active member for many years with the Shoreline Labrador Retriever Club and the Labrador Retriever Club of North Central CT. He was involved with the T’ville Little League as a director, chief umpire and manager; N. Central CT Branch of the American Red Cross as Disaster Services Chairman and then as director; Enfield Civil Preparedness Communications Officer (1967 to 2000) and the State of CT as Area 3’s Communication Officer from 1972 until 1994. Besides his wife, Lindy, his survivors include, son James and partner Ute Schmidt, his children, Kyle and Coleen; son Bruce and wife Dawn (Morra), their children, Nicole and Shawn; son Duncan and wife Linda (Weiss), their son, Michael; daughter Kim (Kathryn) and husband Jim Griffin, their children, Patrick & wife Robin, Carole & husband John, and Jaime. His family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday March 8, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by a Memorial Service with Rev. Kathy Faber officiating with military honors to follow. Interment will take place in June in Newbury, VT. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Enfield Congregational Church 1295 Enfield St., Enfield, CT 06082 where Russell was a member for 50 years.
