Shirley J. Phillips, 86 of Enfield, entered into eternal peace on Fri. March 23, 2007 at the Suffield House in Suffield, CT. Shirley was the widow of Robert J. Phillips. She was born on Jan. 27, 1921 in Amsterdam, NY a daughter of the late Berton S. and Marie L. (Foss) Brown she had resided in Enfield for the past 10 years and before that in Cape Coral & Inverness, FL for 15 years and Schenectady & Amsterdam, NY. Shirley was a graduate of Wilber H. Lynch High School, Amsterdam, NY Class of 1937. Prior to retiring in 1964 she was employed by General Electric Co., Schenectady, NY for 22 years. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, and reading, she was also secretary for her bowling and shuffleboard leagues in FL and NY.
Shirley is survived by her loving family; a sister, Arlene M. Kinnin of Enfield, a sister, Lois Eigabroadt & her husband, George of Broad Brook and a brother, Arnold B. Brown & his wife, Betty of Scotia, NY, along with 6 step grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and especially her loving niece, Barbara M. McClure. She was also predeceased by a brother, Everett C. Brown and a sister, Joyce Brown Hillman. Her family would especially like to thank the nurses and staff at the Suffield House for the wonderful and loving care given to Shirley. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 1pm on Tuesday March 27, 2007 at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00pm until the time of the service. Interment will take place on Wed. March 28, 2007 at 1:00pm in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Albany, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Suffield House Recreational Fund 1 Canal Rd. Suffield, CT 06078 or charity of the donor's choice.
