Sonja Christina Peltz Balinskas, 77 of Enfield, CT passed away on June 9, 2011. Her loving husband of 52 years, Robert, passed before her. She is survived by her children Mary and husband William Eichorn of Worcester, MA; Carolyn Balinskas and husband Rick Pastore of Marlboro, MA; Teresa (Terry) and husband John Cowles of Somers, CT, her son, Stephen, of Brooklyn, NY; and her grandchildren Brian and Thomas Cowles, and Michael and Sharon Eichorn. She also leaves a sister, Cynthia Peltz Magelinski, of South Deerfield, MA, cousins Stanley Padykula of Chicopee, MA and Cecelia Swiszcz of New Bedford, and dear friend Barbara Richard of East Windsor, CT. Her brother, John Peltz, formerly of Chicopee, MA, passed before her. She was the daughter of Catherine Tynski (of Galicia, Poland) and Boleslaw Peltz; raised in Chicopee, MA, and graduated in1952 from Chicopee High School. In addition to raising her four children and helping to raise of her 4 grandchildren, she was a community volunteer, teaching religious education, a Girl Scout Assistant Leader, and a Meals on Wheels volunteer for more than twenty years. She was also an avid tennis player in her youth, enjoyed dancing (ballroom, round and polka) and the outdoors, especially visiting our country’s National Parks and Historic Places. She loved her family and her family will always remember and love her. Calling hours will be held at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT, on Friday (June 15, 2012) from 9am to 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Patrick's Church, Pearl St, Enfield. Interment will then take place in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield.
