Sophie Kineas-Regas 97, of Enfield, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday March 4, 2014 in the comfort of her home. She was the predeceased by her husbands, Gregory Kineas and William Regas. Sophie was born on Dec. 24, 1916 in Paterson, NJ, the daughter of the late Thomas and Chrysanthi (Chachmas) Williams. She moved to the U.S. in Jan. 1947 from Greece and resided in Enfield for many years. She was formerly employed by Bigelow Sanford, Carpet Co., Royal Typewriter and retired from the Enfield Board of Ed after 28 years, as a custodian at Kosciuszko Junior High School and Enrico Fermi High School. She was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church & Society. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Sophie was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and N.E. Patriots. Sophie is survived by her three loving daughters, Helen K. Smith & husband Francis, Catherine Staples & husband Robie, and Alice Kineas & husband Lee Fusselman all of Enfield, her five cherished grandchildren, Beth, Robie, Jr., Jacqueline, Gregory and Thomas and two adored great grandchildren, Sophia and Nathan, along with several nieces and nephews and several family members in Lemnos, Greece. She was predeceased by a sister, Arete Laskaris and a brother, William Vasiliou. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday March 9, 2014 at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. The Funeral Service will take place on Monday March 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church 400 Prospect St. E. Longmeadow, MA, Interment will follow in the Enfield Street Cemetery, Enfield, CT.
