Sister Mary Alda Kosiba, 98, died in Holy Family Infirmary in Enfield, CT on June 16, 2009 in her 80th year of religious life in the Felician Sisters Congregation.<br>Born in East Haddam, CT to the late Stanley and Antoinette (Kalita) Kosiba, the former Mary Kosiba was the oldest of eight children. After completing her elementary education at St. Mary School, Middletown, CT, she entered the juniorate of the Felician Sisters in Lodi, NJ. Sister entered the postulancy in 1929 in Lodi. She transferred to the newly-established Our Lady of the Angels Province in Enfield, CT in 1934. In 1937, Sister Alda pronounced her perpetual vows.<br>Sister Alda ministered for 40 years as a principal and teacher in schools conducted by the Felician Sisters. In preparation for this work, she earned a BS in Education from Catholic Teachers College, Providence, RI and an MS in Education from Fordham University, NY. She taught in the dioceses of Albany, NY, Baltimore, MD, Fall River, MA, Hartford, CT, New York, NY, Providence, RI, Springfield, MA and Worcester, MA.<br>From 1970 to 1972, Sister Alda served the Felician community as provincial secretary and from 1972-1982 as a member of the provincial council for Our Lady of the Angels Province.<br>From 1982 until 2004, she worked as assistant archivist for the province and portress. In 2004, she was admitted to Holy Family Infirmary because of declining health. Early in the afternoon of June 16 she peacefully slipped into the hands of God.<br>In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were six brothers, Joseph, Walter, Theodore, Francis, Edward and Bernard. She is survived by her sister Stacie Smith of Newtown, CT.<br>Friends will be received at Our Lady of the Angels Provincial House, 1315 Enfield Street, Enfield, from 2-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 18. A wake service at 4:30 p.m. will include Evening Praise. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Commendation will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of Flowers, donations to the Felician Sisters Retirement Fund would be appreciated. <br>
