Sister Mary Hyacinth Kotlarczyk, 81, died Tuesday December 18, 2007 in St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. She was in her 64th year of religious life in the Felician Sisters Congregation.
The former Helen Kotlarczyk was the daughter of the late Andrew and Honorata ( Szpindor) Kotlarczyk. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Lodi, NJ, before entering the Felician Sisters in Enfield on July 21, 1944. She professed perpetual vows on August 13, 1952.
Sister Hyancinth ministered for 48 years as a primary grade teacher in schools conducted by the Felician Sisters throughout the New England states as well as eastern New York. In preparation for this work, she earned a bachelor's degree from Regis College, Weston, MA and a master's degree from Fordham University. Sister Hyancinth also served as local minister in South Boston, MA Hartford, CT and Providence, RI. In Providence at St. Adalbert School and in South Boston at Our Lady of Czestochowa School she served as principal.
After her retirement from teaching in 1999, she worked for a number of years as an aide in the Felician Sisters Infirmary as well as a clerical aide.
Sister Hyancinth was predeceased by a brother, Frank and two sisters, Mary Stasiowski and Sister Mary Sylvine, also of the Felician Sisters. She leaves a sister, Stephanie Sowinski.
Friends will be received beginning at 2 pm on December 20, at Our Lady of the Angels Provincial House 1315 Enfield Street, Enfield.The wake service will begin at 4:30 pm followed by Evening Praise. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the convent chapel on Friday December 21, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Felician Sisters' Retirement Fund.
