Thomas A. Moore Obituary

Thomas A. Moore, 87, of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Friday Dec. 11, 2015 with loved ones at his side at the Suffield House, Suffield. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Irene (Borkowski) Moore. Thomas was born on October 11, 1928 in Gardner, MA, the son of the late Henry T. and Beatrice (Garneau) Moore. He had resided in Enfield for the past 60 years, also in Suffield and Gardner, MA. Thomas was a graduate of Gardner H.S. and furthered his education at Northeastern University and Western New England College, having received a BSME & MBA. Prior to retiring he was employed with Hamilton Standard/Sundstrand (UTC) for 37 years. Thomas was a member of the Springfield Explorers Club, Tobacco Valley Investment Club, Capital Region Planning Council and Enfield Planning and Zoning. In his leisure time he enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing, bicycling, bird decoy carving & painting, hiking and backpacking, camping, traveling and photography.

Besides his wife Irene, he is survived by his three children Alan Moore (Jane Irwin) of Somerville, MA, MaryEllen Moore (Bud Foucher) of Clinton Corners, NY and Carol Moore of Enfield, CT (Dale Cooke) of Suffield CT, two beloved grandchildren Elliott Moore and Natalie Moore. He is also survived by his sister Jeanne Merrill & husband Martin of Granby, MA, and brother Joseph Moore & wife Edie of Vero Beach, FL, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth “Betty” Wheelan.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Wednesday Dec. 16, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral service will be held on Thursday Dec. 17, 2015 with the funeral procession forming at 10:00 a.m. to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Gardner, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the National Stroke Association, 9707 East Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, CO or American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I91 Tech Circle, Rocky Hill, CT or the Vermont Land Trust, 8 Bailey Ave., Montpelier, VT 05602.
