Thomas Olko

Thomas R. Olko, 70, of Monroe, NC and formerly of Enfield, CT, entered into eternal rest on Sunday May 24, 2015 at CHS-Union in Monroe, NC. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Carol A. (Scutnik) Olko. Thomas was born on Sept. 6, 1944 in Enfield, CT, the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Talbot) Olko. He had resided in Monroe, NC for the past 5 years and in Enfield, CT most of his life. Tom was a graduate of A.I. Prince Tech. He retired from Permasteelisa, Windsor, CT after many years and before that with Emhart Corp. Windsor, CT. He enjoyed cars, carpentry and cooking, loved his work in manufacturing and was a great teacher and friend. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Besides his wife Carol, he is also survived by his children; Duane Olko & his wife Michele Quinn of Hastings-On-Hudson, NY, Jason Olko & his wife Victoria Shire of New York, NY and Marci Olko of Enfield, CT, his six cherished grandchildren, his four siblings; Joel Olko of Enfield, Janice Giordano of Springfield, MA, Robert Olko of Westfield, MA and Gary Olko of Enfield, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Monday July 20, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in St. Adalbert Church 90 Alden Ave. Enfield. Interment will then take place in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Enfield, CT. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
