Thomas Flanagan

Thomas H. “Tom” Flanagan,79, of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Tuesday (August 26, 2014) at the Windsor Rehab & Healthcare. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Mae (Oakes) Flanagan (2002). Tom was born on March 13, 1935 in Bangor, Maine to the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Hickey) Flanagan and had resided in Enfield for 50 years and in Hartford before that. He served his country honorably with the US Army during the Korean War. Prior to retiring Tom was employed as a meat cutter for various supermarket in Hartford County and was a member of the meat-cutters union. He was a member of St. Martha Church and sang with the choir and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 50, Enfield. Tom was an avid bowler and enjoyed time spent with his family especially the grand and great grandchildren. Tom is survived by his children, Julie-Ann Wilcox & husband Stephen of Enfield, Linda-Jean Shevock of Enfield, Debra-Ann Smith & husband Matthias of FL and Thomas P. Flanagan of Granby, his six beloved grandchildren and six adored great grandchildren and a sister Katherine Tekancic of OH. He was also predeceased by a son-in-law Michael Shevock, two brothers and 2 sisters. His family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Rehab & Healthcare and the Masonicare Partners Hospice for the respectful, loving and compassionate care he received and a special thanks to Eileen, Petronia, Cruger & Jim of Masonicare Hospice for doing so much to ease his last days. Calling hours for Tom will be held on Friday (August 29, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. The funeral services will take place on Saturday (Aug. 30) with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Martha Church 214 Brainard Rd. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Masonicare Partners Home Health & Hospice, 131 Founders Plaza Ste. 200 East Hartford, CT 06108 or the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
